Print-Rite Holdings Ltd (PRH) of Zhuhai has been certified to host the only national-level academician workstation dedicated to the print consumables industry.

The State-level academician workstation will develop new products, techniques, and technologies. Cutting-edge technology will eventually drive innovation in the industry and around the country, according to a Print-Rite manager.

It was reported in the Zhuhai Daily on March 23 that the China Association for Science & Technology granted the certificate last Dec 21 in recognition of Print-Rite's remarkable technological achievements through continuous R&D.

Hong Kong-based Print-Rite Group opened its first domestic factory in Xiangzhou District in 1988. It quickly branched out and became the world's leading general printing supplies manufacturer. The group developed the first consumables sci-tech park in the Chinese mainland at Nanping Science & Technology Industrial Park, integrating production, management, and research.

Possessing 2,700 independent technology patents, the company produces 10,000 types of products. These include 3D, digital, and laser printers; toner and inkjet cartridges; color ribbons; carbon powders; and chips. Print-Rite has strong overseas presence in more than 50 countries and regions.

Zhuhai is well known as the Print Consumables Capital of the World. It houses the world's largest manufacturing base for print consumables and components, manufacturing over 70 percent of color ribbons, 60 percent of compatible ink cartridges, and 25 percent of recycled laser toner cartridges globally.

Furthermore, Zhuhai print companies produce nearly 70 percent of all printing consumables-related patent applications in the country.
