Doumen District is soon to have a 130-m sci-tech innovation center providing top-grade international office space for small and medium-sized corporate headquarters and regional offices.

Construction of the 600-million-yuan ($91.2 million) building commenced on Dec 23 and it will take two and a half years to complete.

With Jianfeng Mt in the north and close to the Huangyan River, the center will cover 36,777 sq m and have floorage of 95,336 sq m, including 40,200 sq m underground. An exhibition center and a community park that are still under construction are located nearby.

The center will accommodate individualized business offices, leisure and entertainment areas, and facilities making it suitable for technology exchange, cultural display, and education, according to the development company.

Groundbreaking ceremony

Listed as a provincial key project for 2018, the center is of significance for improving infrastructure for the innovative technology service industry in the district, according to a Doumen official.

Upon completion, the facility will attract more hi-tech and new-tech enterprises to Doumen, thereby expediting regional industrial transformation, the official added.

The development is part of the district's effort to construct Doumen New Town in Western Eco-New Town of Zhuhai. It is being advanced with three other centers that will feature exhibitions, tourism development, and business. Construction is in full swing in Huxin, Baijiao, Baiteng, South Jianfeng, and Xinqing sections, which are becoming the town's main urban areas.

A reasonable layout of parks is gradually taking shape to create a favorable eco-environment, convenient lifestyle, improved support industries, and picturesque cityscapes. Also planned are national agricultural, Huangyang River and Xingfu River wetlands, plus community and the second-phase of Jianfeng Mt parks.
