Clowning around

Circus performers from across the world put on a thrilling charity show at the Zhuhai Sports Center on Nov 13 -- a teaser for the Nov 18 opening of the China International Circus Festival.

The funny ones from Moldova, Russia, Mongolia, Belgium, Kenya, Italy, Greece, the US, and Argentina, somersaulted, twirled, and thereby energized the crowd.

The circus is for everyone.

The festival, which runs until Nov 26, will feature 18 performances in and around the city, six of them for charity. 

A show was staged at the Macao Forum on Nov 12, expanding the festival’s influence beyond the Chinese mainland. Other shows will be at Zhuhai’s community squares, schools, and even at military base, to reach out to locals and share in the joys of the circus.

Clown reaches out

Thousands of spectators watched the circus gala in which acts such as Gibadulin Jugglers, X Snakes, Les Frères, and Beliakov’s Dogs, gave world-class performances. A themed circus-related activity also took place at the Xiangzhou District Government Square on the same day.
