Women’s tennis combatants all picked
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and former US Open champion Samantha Stosur are on the list of 12 final entries for WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai.

The 12 players will face off at the Hengqin International Tennis Center from Nov 1 to 6. They have swept eight championships in this sports competition season. The two grand slam champions Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic and Samantha Stosur from Australia are expected to make the competition more exciting. Another top-seeded player, Johanna Konta from the UK who recently won the WTA Breakout Star of the Year award, will also vie for the win with her stunning tennis skills.

The tennis center is offering a stage for upstarts Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands and Caroline Garcia from France. They both achieved breakthroughs this year and will compete with renowned middle-aged players such as Elena Sergeevna Vesnina from Russia and Timea Bacsinszky from Switzerland.

"We are looking forward to the second edition of the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai, showcasing some of the top athletes," said WTA CEO Steve Simon. "This event features many of our top stars who have accomplished much success during the 2016 season and now have the opportunity to compete against each other for the Zhuhai title."
WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai is the highest-level tennis tournament in South China and one of the top three WTAs in China. It is being held in Zhuhai for five consecutive years to 2019. Sponsored by the Chinese Tennis Association and Zhuhai People’s Government and organized by Huafa Group, it will offer 700 points for the singles champion. Players seeded 9 to 19 are required to play, guaranteeing the excellence of the competition.
Retired tennis legend Steffie Graf, this year’s ambassador, will make her first appearance at an official event in the Chinese Mainland at the site. The sweeping-Asia Savour Food Festival will add aroma to the WTA action.
