Air show medical drill held -- just in case
Medical and rescue units from three cities held dramatic emergency response exercises on Oct 20 in preparation for the 11th biennial China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition being held Nov 1 to 6.
The drill took place at the Zhuhai Airshow Center. Simulated was an aircraft crash, explosion, and fire with causalities near Exhibition Hall 11. Meanwhile, the “pilot” had to be rescued after catapulting into the sea.

Following the mock accident, the on-scene commander ordered the Maritime Rescue Team to respond in coordination with other units. The deputy commander-in-chief launched the Contingency Coordination Plan, which assembles rescue teams from Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen. They treated the “injured” whereas the “pilot,” with normal vital signs, was transported to Sanzao Hospital.
Nearly 70 staff from 11 medical organizations from the three cities participated in the drill. The Tri-City Coordination Emergency Plan they followed is a contingent of pre-arranged medical preparations for Airshow China 2016, according to the Zhuhai Health & Family Planning Bureau.
The bureau also announced that free treatment for common diseases will be provided at medical stations in Exhibition Halls 3 and 5 during the air show.
