Zhuhai International Circuit
Covering 4 sq km, Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) is located in Jinding, Tangjiawan Town, in north Xiangzhou District. The racetrack was designed by Australian company Kinhill Engineers Pty Ltd, the same group that created the Formula 1 circuit in Adelaide.
Motorsport was initiated in Zhuhai with a contest on the street track of ZIC in 1993. Street circuit racing continued until Oct 31, 1996 when China’s first permanent motor race track premiered at ZIC with Formula 1 in mind.

ZIC soon became the hotbed of local motorsports with teams from Hong Kong and Macao setting up bases inside the circuit garages. On that first day, 300 drivers and 250 cars from 19 countries and regions, including the world-famous McLaren, Porsche and Ferrari motorcades, initiated the track. The day’s races included nine events, such as a GT endurance, the Southeast house car challenge, an Asia Formula circuit competition, and a race for domestically produced Chinese cars.
The circuit is the newest and currently the leading Asian six A-level track, ahead of those in Japan and Indonesia. The ZIC track has a 15-cm bottom layer made of detritus, second and third of asphalt concrete, and the top layer of bituminous pavement. All layers adopt the latest materials with high melting points. Therefore, they do not get sticky at high temperatures.

The circuit is 4.32 km long, and 12 m wide at straight sections and 14 m on curves. There are 16 turns designed in a clockwise direction, of which five veer left. The highest speed recorded on the track so far is 300 km per hour.
Buildings ancillary to the circuit include the command, maintenance, medical and news centers, and the VIP hall.
