Yuyuan 1911 Culture, Business & Leisure Zone

Updated: 2016-03-18

Yuyuan is a scenic spot for business and leisure with historic and cultural significance. It was the former residence of Xu Run, a prominent industrialist in modern China. Xu Run (1838-1911) was once associate chief of the China Merchants Steamship Navigation Co and Kaiping Mining Administration, and founder of Shanghai Tongwen Publishing House. He re-created the Shanghai Yuyuan Garden here in his hometown.

Currently, Yuyuan is a protected cultural site. With century-old trees, a pond, bridge, pavilion, hill and corridor, Xu’s Ancestral Hall as well as bars and restaurants in the Suzhou-style classic courtyard buildings make this venue a good place for business, leisure and dining.
