Miaowan Island
Miaowan Island (Temple Bay Island), located in the middle of Zhuhai's Wanshan Archipelago, is fondly referred to a Dream Island and also called China's Maldives.
Miaowan is composed of the main island and an unnamed one, connected by a stone embankment built by locals in the 1970s. It used to have a Tin Hau Temple and a Pak Tai Temple, which is the origin of the island's name.
As an undeveloped sightseeing spot, Miaowan Island has only one arc-shaped beach, a small village and wharf. However, it has delicate white sand, clear sea water, fresh sea food, and a first-rate natural environment.
Eating
Tourists can taste various kinds of fresh sea food, such as highfin moray, prawns, lobster, crab, and abalone at island restaurants or from their own barbecues.
Recreation
1. Scuba diving. Miaowan Island has a diving base stocked with equipment necessary for exploring the sea's red coral fauna.
2. Snorkeling. Tourists can see the underwater world with snorkeling equipment and catch sea urchins by hand.
3. Digging shellfish.
4. Hiking at an abandoned wharf.
5. Hill climbing for a sunrise or sunset.
Staying overnight
Guests can choose to tent or stay in small inns or hotels. The entirety of the island only has 40 hotel rooms with air conditioners, priced at between 280 yuan ($42) and 380 yuan ($57). Therefore visitors are advised to book in advance, or they can rent tents for 50 yuan ($7.50) each.
