Hong Kong-Macao Transient Fishermen Culture Exhibition Hall
The Hong Kong-Macao Transient Fishermen Culture Exhibition Hall, at the Longzhou Pavilion on Longzhou Street in Xiangzhou, showcases numerous exhibits related to transient fishermen in Hong Kong, Macao and the Pearl River Estuary include tools, boat models, historical photographs and archives, and scenes of fishing grounds. The hall opens free to the public between 9:30 am and 5 pm, Tuesdays to Sundays.
Covering a floor area of 1,150 sq m, the Longzhou Pavilion was established in 1962 thanks to fund-raising by transient fishermen in the area, aiming to keep their history and culture well-preserved and perpetuated.
With the theme of Historical Changes of Transient Fishermen in Hong Kong, Macao and thePearl River Estuary, the hall provides visitors with insights into the culture through five chapters -- Origin, New Life, Service System Taking Shape, Pure Heart, and Sweet Home.

Showcased are 327 documents, historical archives, photos and manuscripts, and 63 physical objects. These vividly reproduce and highlight the living and workinthe lives and work of these fishermen over theinyears, and demonstrate the profound historical culture and customsofat the times from multiple perspectives.
In May 2014, the Zhuhai Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau invested 7 million yuan ($1.07 million) for restoration and maintenance of the pavilion and laid out a detailed plan to construct the exhibition hall.
The term "transient fishermen" refers to an industrious hardworking group of water-dwelling people living and working between Hong Kong, Macao andthe Pearl River Estuary. They usually carryhave two identities, withone being Hong Kong or Macao residents, and the other, dwellers of Guangdong's beingShenzhen, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Shanwei, Yangjiang or Taishan coastal areas.
