Su Manshu's Former Residence
Su Manshu (1884-1918), a civilian and a Buddhist monk, was an outstanding litterateur, painter, translator, and patriot in China’s modern times. The Su Manshu’s Former Residence, which is now a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province, was built during the reign of Emperor Tao-kuang (Daoguang) in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). A small square and a bronze statue of Su Manshu were added during a recent renovation. With features of Lingnan architecture, the residence displays cultural relics related to its owner.
