The thirty global top-notch troupes will feast the audiences breathtaking performances in the forthcoming 2nd China International Circus Festival in the seaside city of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.

Scheduled to begin from Nov 1, at Chimelong International Ocean Resort in the Zhuhai's Hengqin FTZ, the 12-day biennial gala is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Guangdong provincial government and co-managed by the Zhuhai municipal government and Chimelong Group.

It is expected that around 200 performers from 20 countries and regions worldwide including Russia, Sweden, Germany, the United States and of course China will attend the extravaganza.

They will show off stunts, aerial acrobatics, stage acrobatics, animal-taming, funny clowns and magic, revealed Long Guangyan, vice-mayor of Zhuhai and deputy director of the festival's executive committee.

Competitions among the 30 troupes will take place from Nov 2 to 4 and the award ceremony will be staged on Nov 5, she said.

This year's jury members include the leaders of China's acrobatics associations, senior executives of world-renowned circus groups, champions of international circus competitions, domestic and overseas veterans of the circus industry.

The following seven days will provide several performances of the prize-winning programs.

The official referred to the solo of the theme song Hello Circus as "something you won't miss" during the opening ceremony on the evening of Nov 1.

Yu Yueyue, a well-known Chinese musical actress and singer will perform the solo with the integration of acrobatic and magic performances by others.

Over the course of the festival, the troupes will go to the University of Macao for the first time to present two performances. It will mark a new era in the process of the Zhuhai-Macao co-operations and exchanges, she said.

"Dashing in the home stretch, we are gearing up efforts for the preparatory work to make sure that the upcoming international event a complete success," Long added.

The circus festival will not be the only international event in Zhuhai this November. The inaugural session of the Huajin Securities WTA Elite Trophy, which will be held from Nov 2 to 8 at Hengqin International Tennis Center nearby, will also do its bit to turn Zhuhai into a merry land.

The city of Zhuhai has become an increasingly popular place for many international events in recent years. Geographically, it lies just opposite Macao across a narrow river and only 34 nautical miles (62.97 kilometers) away from Hong Kong. The city also boasts an easy reach to the other Pearl River Delta cities

Partly thanks to Zhuhai's unique location, the first session of the China International Circus Festival two years ago attracted 30,000 audiences inside the Chimelong venue, official statistics indicate.

In 2013, 27 troupes from 17 countries and regions across the world had attended the inaugural session of the festival.
