The Beijing-Tianjin Zhongguancun Tech Town in Tianjin’s Baodi district has registered a total of 1,800 businesses of various types, including information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing and biomedicine enterprises.

The tech town is considered a key platform for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and is Zhongguancun’s first asset-heavy project outside the Chinese capital.

The Beijing-based Sinnet Technology Company has invested 12 billion yuan($1.65 billion) to build a cloud computing center in the tech town, with the Baodi district government providing supporting services for the center.

Recently, the company secured an order to provide computing services to a leading domestic internet enterprise, which requires the services to be operational by April . As a result, the company urgently needs to upgrade its power grid facilities.

To ensure the project stays on track, the Baodi government coordinated with a number of departments, including the State Grid and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Teams worked on-site daily to connect the 110-kilovolt high-voltage power supply to the company's substation.

The local government not only provides timely help to address enterprises’ need, but also form investment plans to encourage their expansion and attract upstream and downstream projects.

It is also facilitating the transfer of scientific research from parks such as Zhongguancun Life Science Park and Zhongguancun Software Park to Baodi for commercialization.
