Michael Campbell, the Nicaraguan Ambassador to China, recently visited Tianjin to facilitate practical cooperation between the port city in North China and Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

This year marks the 3rd year of the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Nicaragua. Leading officials of the municipal foreign affairs office of Tianjin welcomed Mr. Campbell on his first trip to the city.

They shared that the construction of the Nicaragua Luban Workshop, the first of its kind in Latin America, is under way, and it will cultivate young technical talents suitable for local needs.

The foreign affairs office of Tianjin is willing to work with the Nicaraguan Embassy in China to cement sister-city relations between Tianjin and Managua, and carry out cooperation in multiple fields, including the economy and trade, vocational education, agriculture, and traditional Chinese medicine.

Mr. Campbell said that Nicaragua has maintained sound development momentum in recent years and has achieved a post-pandemic rebound. There is complementarity between the two countries and vast cooperation potential in infrastructure construction, corporate strategic projects, and investment and trade areas.

During his stay in Tianjin, Mr. Campbell and his delegation held discussions with the Tianjin Dongjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce to introduce Nicaragua's business environment and investment policies.

They also visited the Luban Workshop Construction·Experience Museum for investigation and the Tiankai Higher Education Innovation Park, which is an incubation hub serving entrepreneurs and high-tech and innovative enterprises.
