The Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway has begun operating on Dec 26, significantly enhancing the Yangtze River Delta region's transportation network.
The new rail line connects Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Huzhou Station in just 55 minutes, cutting the travel time in half.
Spanning 164 kilometers with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the route starts from Shanghai Hongqiao Station, passes through Suzhou in Jiangsu province, and ends at Huzhou in Zhejiang province.
It includes eight stations: Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Songjiang, Liantang, Suzhounan, Shengze, Huzhou Nanxun, Huzhoudong, and Huzhou.
The travel times are 16 minutes to Shanghai Songjiang, 26 minutes to Suzhounan, 43 minutes to Huzhou Nanxun, and 55 minutes to Huzhou.
Initially, up to 38 daily high-speed trains will run, accommodating both regular and peak travel schedules. By early 2025, the number of daily trips will increase to 229.
Connecting with the Shanghai Railway Hub and linking with other major lines, the railway is a key project in enhancing the regional rail network. It is expected to help increase travel convenience, support regional economic integration, and promote high-quality development in the Yangtze River Delta region.
