Shanghai's Panlong Tiandi, a lifestyle and commercial project fusing an ancient town aesthetic with an open block layout, is set to become a national-level tourist and leisure area following its recent ascension to the municipal-level.
Covering 230,000 square meters of public green space, Panlong Tiandi combines culture, nature, and modern urban life. It revitalizes the Panlong Ancient Town, preserving landmarks such as the Panlong Ancestral Temple and Xianghua Bridge, while introducing cultural and creative hubs like the Yu Deyao Art Museum. The area also features tea houses, pet parks, boutique hotels, and eco-friendly restaurants, blending history with modern amenities.
Designated as a historical preservation area in 2008, Panlong Tiandi maintains its traditional cross-street layout, with over 20 historical buildings restored and integrated with modern functions. It offers seven thematic squares, creating a vibrant social space that merges Eastern and Western lifestyles.
Panlong Tiandi's central thoroughfare is surrounded by extensive green spaces, including six thematic zones, a 3-kilometer circular trail, and nearly 10,000 square meters of outdoor sports areas. A 3-km water system with boat docks enhances the cultural experience.
Panlong Tiandi aims to integrate nature, culture, art, and commerce, reshaping urban living. It features the Urban Retreat concept store, art galleries, and specialty dining, promoting a lifestyle that is natural and boundless.
The district also hosts original cultural events like the "Panlong Water Market", showcasing traditional crafts and performances. Collaborations with institutions like Harvard University's Chinese Art Lab offer immersive cultural experiences, blending traditional and modern elements to attract visitors.
