On Jan 2, the Shanghai Railway Bureau reported a 37 percent increase in passenger traffic over the same period in 2019, setting a New Year holiday record and contributing to over 20 percent of the nation's total railway travel.
Passengers were primarily engaged in short-distance tourism, family visits, and commuting, reflecting strong travel demand during the period.
