According to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, OTIS's research and development center in the Shanghai Linkong Economic Park has been recognized as one of the multinational corporations' latest global R&D centers.
OTIS is a globally renowned manufacturer, installer, and service provider of elevators and escalators, transporting approximately 2 billion passengers daily and maintaining over 2.2 million elevators and escalators, ranking among the top in the industry in quantity.
The company entered China in 1984 and set up its China headquarters and global high-speed elevator center in Shanghai. Among them, the OTIS Shanghai R&D Center is the company's most significant innovation center around the world, with hundreds of professional engineers responsible for the research and development of elevators, escalators, components, and systems for the Chinese and global markets dedicated to intelligent, digital, and sustainable innovation to meet the needs of Chinese and global customers. Many innovative achievements, such as the energy-saving masterpiece Gen3TM, the OH7000 smart elevator, and the IoT digital service solution, have been widely applied in global markets.
Shanghai released the revised policies for foreign-funded research and development centers and regional headquarters of multinational corporations in 2020 and 2022, respectively, adding the categories of "global research centers" and "multinational corporation business division headquarters", which continuously enhance the economic level of headquarters.
