Fifteen newly built urban libraries were recently put into use in Minhang district, which is a central area in Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District.
So far, the district has 30 urban libraries across its 14 sub-districts, towns and industrial parks, offering local residents more convenient access to public reading services.
The libraries are decorated in distinctive styles featuring local intangible cultural heritage items, floral designs, science and technology and more.
The libraries are completely self-serviced, allowing people to borrow and return books with their ID cards or Shanghai library cards at self-service machines.
