According to the plan, Changning and BOMA China will invite more parties involved in the district's commercial real estate sector to pursue sustainable growth in the coming five years. They will conduct cooperation in five respects, including training professional management, attracting green companies, as well as reducing buildings' energy and water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

The two sides also established a Hongqiao Low Carbon Promotion Center that same day.

The BOMA International Sustainability Management Resources Center was also launched during the activity. The center can provide 10 kinds of information services, including those related to sustainable management system and green finance.

According to Yuan Xiangqing, an investigator from the Changning district development and reform commission, 54 public buildings in Changning that were renovated between 2013 and 2021 have become more energy efficient.

The Golden Hongqiao International Center, for example, has seen a significant decline in its energy consumption after a renovation by BOMA. The center is Shanghai's first commercial building to generate 10 billion yuan ($1.39 billion) in tax revenue this year.

Mao Qin, director of the Changning urban renewal and low-carbon project management center, said the district will renovate over 3 million square meters of public buildings to make them more energy efficient by 2030.
