A transit-oriented development (TOD) project at Fangle Road Station in the Qianwan area of Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District was recently approved by the Shanghai government.
Taking advantages of Fangle Road Station as the junction of the western line of Qianwan Metro Line 13, the Shanghai Demonstration Line and Metro Line 25, the TOD project is designed to be three-dimensional and multi-functional, and offer transportation, recreation, business and living facilities.
To achieve the above-ground and underground integrated development, it is anticipated that a highly effective and secure walking system and a vertical transit system will be constructed.
To provide nearby people with a recreational area, a green belt connecting Fangle Road Metro Station and Zhujian Road Metro Station is being planned to the north of Fangle Road.
Qianwan Park, which is close to the TOD project, started construction recently and is expected to be a landmark project in the Qianwan area.
Occupying 76 hectares, the park is seamlessly integrated with surrounding functional areas and highlights the TOD project's ecological features.
As for industrial development, the TOD project aims to be a magnet for health and bio-medicine industries, and with an optimized research and development layout, a talent-oriented industrial system is expected to be formed here.
