Psychological counseling service available nationwide

chinadaily.com.cn| Updated: Jan 28,2020 L M S

The battle against the COVID-19 outbreak, which has affected almost every Chinese citizen's life, should be extended from hospitals, medical treatment and preventive measures to psychotherapy, including counseling, in order to ease the stress and negative emotions of fear, anxiety, depression, feelings of loss and guilt, exhaustion and insecurity.

Most people can carry out psychological adjustment by themselves. However, there are still some who need professional counselling as their psychological problems persist and even produce side-effects on their normal lives.

More than 300 free psychological counselling hotlines are open to the public around China, supported mainly by provincial public mental health institutions, while some regions are providing special epidemic psychological counselling services.

During the epidemic period, the advice is that all the public, close contacts, patients and medical workers should enhance their health awareness, do more exercise, have regular work and rests to improve their immunity, do not receive too much epidemic-related information as this can create panic, and learn to accept all emotions, including anxiety and fear, foster self-confidence and rely on family and friends for support and care, while paying attention to leisure and entertainment activities.

Here are the psychological counseling service hotline numbers in Nantong. Please feel free to ring them if you need guidance.
