Wu Xinming, mayor of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, met with Hirokazu Okada, president of Japan-based TOWA Corp, online on Dec 19.
After introducing Nantong's pandemic prevention and control measures, as well as its economic and social development, Wu noted that the city has entered the fast lane of high-quality development.
He added that transportation projects such as bridges over the Yangtze River and high-speed railways will shorten the distance between Nantong and Shanghai, as well as southern Jiangsu.
The semiconductor industry, especially the package test, in Nantong has in recent years experienced rapid development, laying a solid foundation for TOWA's growth in the city, according to the mayor.
He expressed hopes that TOWA will operate more projects in Nantong and pledged to offer the enterprise more efficient administrative services.
Okada said that it took less than a year for TOWA's semiconductor equipment project to be put into operation in Nantong due to the city's favorable business environment.
The president added that it further strengthened the enterprise's confidence in Nantong and he was delighted to know that the development goals made for the Nantong factory were realized ahead of schedule.
He noted that he expects more support from local authorities to boost the Nantong factory's further development.
With a total investment of $80 million, Donghe Semiconductor Equipment (Nantong) Co Ltd is the largest investment project of TOWA Corp to date. The factory produces semiconductor packaging equipment and semiconductor ultra-precision molds, which represent TOWA's most advanced technology.
