The S2 Hulu Expressway and Haigang Avenue Overpass Ramps opened to traffic on Feb 8 – shortening the drive from downtown Shanghai city to the Lin-gang Special Area in East China by about 15 minutes.

The project for the overpass ramps was the first major municipal transportation project to start construction since the establishment of the Lin-gang Special Area in August 2019.

Located in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Area, following its opening, the traffic pressure on the Shengang Avenue Ramp is expected to be relieved.

It is seen as being an important channel for the international innovation collaboration area in the Lin-gang Special Area to connect to external traffic and it is also one of the only routes to the World Laureates Association Science Community -- currently under construction -- and the Bay of Science Innovation Headquarters.

Residents can now also travel more quickly to the south of the Lin-gang New Area, where the Science and Innovation Collaborative Zone, Dishui Lake and the WLA Science Community are located.
