The Lin-gang Special Area in Shanghai in East China on Jan 6 released a plan to develop a core national industry and education integration pilot zone, to integrate the resources of resident businesses with those of vocational schools and universities, local officials said.

Under the plan, by 2025 the area will have established an integration demonstration area with a strong, far-reaching influence and an inspiring demonstration model.

The area will construct no less than 10 separate demonstration projects for the integration of enterprises with vocational schools and universities at a high level. It will develop more than 50 recognized key businesses that integrate industry with vocational schools and universities, training more than 100,000 industrial workers with primary or above vocational skill levels and professional technical qualifications.

Several universities in Lin-gang – including Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai Dianji University, Shanghai University of Electric Power and Shanghai Jianqiao University – on the same day signed corporate agreements.

They signed up with the likes of SAIC Motor, Shanghai Cedar Composites Technology Co Ltd, Tesla, Shanghai Lange Intelligent Technology Co Ltd and Natlinear Electronic Co Ltd, among others.

Natlinear Electronic will invest nearly 40 million yuan ($6.2 million) to build a complete pilot integrated circuits production line in Shanghai Jianqiao University.
