A legal aid regulation that took effect on April 1 in Guangdong province has made it easier to apply for the service.
The province's legal aid bureau coordinated different departments to improve the legal aid system. It revised the Guangdong Legal Aid Regulation, drafted Opinions on Improving the Legal Aid System and revised Interim Measures on Funding Legal Aid.
Lawyers gave lectures to the offenders and answered their questions about whether they could apply for loans or find employment.
Legal aid has saved some 200 million yuan ($30 million) for more than 30,000 people in Fuzhou since the introduction of the local legal aid regulation on Feb 1, 2015.
