Legal aid accessible to more people in Guangdong
Updated:2016-06-13
A legal aid regulation that took effect on April 1 in Guangdong province has made it easier to apply for the service.
The 65-article regulation specifies a whole range of items ranging from conditions and eligibility for legal aid as well as how to apply and relevant rights and obligations.
According to the regulation, those who are demanding salaries in arrears from employers and maintenance from sons and daughters can apply for legal aid.
Legal aid is also available to welfare organizations, including orphanages, nursing homes and SOS Children's Villages, as well as social organizations who file cases on environmental protection.
The regulation also reduces the time needed for legal aid application to three days and provides for a timely notice of response to applicants.
