Strong efforts are being made by the Xinghua Economic Development Zone – located in Xinghua city, in East China's Jiangsu province – to augment its industry clusters.
To leverage its available space, the zone reactivated 20 inefficient parcels of idle industrial land, totaling 777.2 mu (51.81 hectares), from January to November last year.
It also renovated and remodeled 24 resettlement houses into talent apartments, to meet the residential needs of company staff and executives in an area set aside for the pre-prepared foods industry.
A food seasoning area was established there and 28 manufacturers have settled in.
This year, the zone is upgrading support facilities for industrial development. It's constructing 450,000 square meters of cold storage and frozen food processing facilities for the cold logistics supply chain.
To advance scientific development, the zone added three national specialized and sophisticated "little giant" companies, two provincial-level technology centers and three municipal-level technology centers last year.
In 2023, the zone was recognized as a national green park. It's guided resident enterprises to undergo energy savings renovations and try to get the official designation of being a green factory, leading to three enterprises being honored as provincial-level green factories last year.
