Efforts to raise its profile in Japan being made by the county-level city of Xinghua – administered by Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – are widely said to be paying considerable dividends.
One example is Taizhou Weiye Machinery Manufacturing Co Ltd, which has been busy producing medical devices to meet Japanese orders, were signed up during a previous roadshow in that country.
In late February, the Xinghua Municipal Bureau of Commerce organized a trade promotions activity to Japan, to secure orders and attract investment.
The Japan trip could be considered a great success in that it achieved the three main tasks that were set – holding the Xinghua-Tokyo trade fair, visiting six key enterprises there and assisting Xinghua's companies to grab orders, said bureau director Liu Guangyong.
Many Japan enterprises attended the trade fair – including Kamui Co Ltd, Dentsu Group, Human Capital Co Ltd and Dachial Co Ltd – engaged in such fields as manufacturing, investment banking, food manufacturing, international trade and high-end talent recruitment.
Supply contracts worth $6 million were signed during the trip. With the support of the commercial delegation, Weiye Machinery signed orders with Japan's Medmetalex Co and Metran Co Ltd, worth $1 million and $2 million, respectively.
Next, the bureau will keep track of the various enterprises and projects it helped to ensure the commercialization of the Japanese orders, Liu added.
