Statistics have shown that the Xinghua Economic Development Zone – located in Xinghua city in East China's Jiangsu province – registered a solid performance in terms of economic development and project construction last year.
In 2022, its regional GDP hit 16.32 billion yuan ($2.35 billion), up 8.1 percent year-on-year. Revenue from the general public budgets reached 528 million yuan, down 5.5 percent over the same period.
The zone generated industrial invoiced sales of 20.8 billion yuan, an increase of 11.5 percent year-on-year, including 10.06 billion yuan in the health food industry, up 17.3 percent.
Last year, Xinghua EDZ performed well in attracting projects, having drawn 39 costing over 100 million yuan each, based on a total investment of 14.56 billion yuan. Among them, 15 projects cost over 500 million yuan each.
In addition, there were 15 newly started and 16 completed projects last year, costing over 100 million yuan apiece.
In 2022, the zone became a provincial deep-integration pilot area for the advanced manufacturing and modern services sectors.
