Taixing city in East China's Jiangsu province and Nanjing Tech University, situated in Nanjing, capital of the province, announced at a conference on Oct 9 that they would boost their comprehensive strategic cooperation.
The cooperation between the city and the university already has a solid foundation.
In April this year, the two, together with the Taixing Economic Development Zone and Taixing Port Group, signed an agreement to jointly construct an industrial college.
The new college will focus on the development strategy of featured industries and the demand for cutting-edge technology in the Taixing EDZ, as well as fully integrate the innovation resources of the university.
It aims to create a public scientific research service platform and become a comprehensive industrial college, integrating the nurturing of high-level talent and scientific research, as well as the commercialization of high-tech achievements.
Liu Wenrong, mayor of Taixing, told the conference that the city would take the opportunity to implement guarantee and support work.
It would also provide all-round services for internships and the daily needs of Nanjing Tech University's teachers and students in Taixing, while ensuring the efficient operation of the industrial college.
Jiang Juncheng, president of Nanjing Tech University, said his university would leverage its disciplinary advantages and focus on developing new quality productive forces.
He added that the university would bolster the integration of the industry supply chain and innovation chain and make joint efforts to deepen industrial technology research and development and attract industrial talent.
