The Madian hydro-junction renovation project of Taixing, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, stood out as the only project from Taizhou to win the Dayu Award recently, the highest award in China for water conservancy projects.

The Madian hydro-junction is located 5.2 kilometers away from the entrance of the Yangtze River, which serves functions like irrigation, drainage, navigation, and improving the regional water environment.

The original pumping station was built in the 1970s with low construction standards and suffered severe damage. In November 2014, its reconstruction project was implemented and was completed in March 2021, with an estimated total investment of 238 million yuan ($34.18 million).

At present, the Madian hydro-junction has improved the guarantee rate for industrial and agricultural water use to over 90 percent, and the guarantee rate for domestic water use to 95 percent.

In addition, the Madian hydro-junction is also a national AAA scenic spot, showing great physical beauty and natural diversity.
