Huzhou's first immersive cultural stage play premieres
Huzhou's first immersive cultural stage play, Legend of The Swords, recently premiered at the Deqing Grand Theater in Deqing county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.
The play draws inspiration from the local legend of Ganjiang and Moye, famous swordsmiths of the Spring and Autumn Period (770–476 BC). It vividly recounts their journey of forging legendary swords, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the protagonists.
This classic tale has been revitalized through modern stage art. The stage play breaks traditional stage boundaries by integrating multiple performance spaces, creating a rich, interactive storytelling experience.

Before the main performance, audiences enter the "Moganshan Sword Cave" foyer, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the story. Inside the main theater, professional actors, combined with dynamic visual and auditory effects, deliver an all-encompassing, immersive artistic experience.
"The moment you step into the theater, you feel the uniqueness of this performance. The close interaction with actors enhances the experience," said Ms Ji, one of the audience members.
Produced by Huzhou Moganshan State-Owned Capital Holdings Group and Hangyan (Deqing) Grand Theater Company, the play took two years to develop and will be a resident production at the Deqing Grand Theater.
