Hefei high-tech zone leads way in low-carbon innovation
The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, or Hefei high-tech zone – located in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province – is said to be leading the way in sustainable development and environmental responsibility, driving its green development initiatives forwards.
A prime example is Sungrow Industrial Park, the production base of listed new energy equipment group Sungrow Power Supply Co Ltd, which is situated in the Hefei high-tech zone.
The park is equipped with photovoltaic parking sheds, roof-mounted solar power stations and energy storage systems.
The zero-carbon factory in the Sungrow Industrial Park follows the six steps to carbon neutrality. These place the emphasis on assessments and measurements, dual-carbon planning, intelligent carbon reductions, energy-carbon operations, carbon offsetting and certification and empowerment.
It's understood that this approach aims to facilitate systematic carbon reductions – considering both emissions reductions and cost-effectiveness through unified planning and iterative implementation.
To get real-time carbon emissions data, the park has integrated the Sungrow Power's intelligent carbon icarbon energy digital platform for monitoring and optimizing energy usage – to ensure safe, economical and low-carbon operations.
Overall, it's widely said that Hefei city's commitment to green and low-carbon development is evidenced by its focus on the strategic emerging industry. In 2023, the output value of that sector in the city increased by 11.1 percent year-on-year.
