In Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone – located in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province – a pilot project called the Elevator Safety Smart Management System has qualified for the final stage of acceptance.
With 6,500 elevators now equipped with the innovative system, residents enjoy far safer and more reliable elevator experiences.
Incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as the internet of things, artificial intelligence and big data, the system collects data from intelligent sensors installed in the key location of the elevators.
It uploads the data to the cloud for round-the-clock monitoring of an elevator's operations status, automatically assessing risk levels and issuing real-time alerts for potential malfunctions and hazards.
By leveraging various sensor devices, the system accurately locates trapped individuals and the specific floors involved, reducing rescue times to within 15 minutes.
The technology-driven system replaces manual inspections – significantly lowering elevator failure rates. The trial operation is said to have demonstrated its effectiveness in safeguarding passenger safety.
The successful implementation of the Elevator Safety Smart Management System is viewed as marking a significant advancement in elevator safety – while also setting a new standard for smart and secure urban living.
