China's aerospace sector is set to benefit from the introduction of domestically produced quantum computing.

The China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, or CAAA, recently partnered with Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co Ltd, which is based in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.

They've established a joint Quantum Computing Fluid Dynamics Workshop.

The facility will deploy the power of quantum computing to solve key problems in the design and manufacturing of aircraft and rockets.

Traditional methods of numerical simulation and analysis have limitations when studying complex flow scenarios. However, quantum computing is said to offer a solution by simultaneously considering the quality and efficiency of numerical simulations.

The goal of the collaboration is to boost research and communications, train talent and explore specific quantum computing applications in aerodynamic simulations, aircraft designs and in optimization scenarios.

The target is to promote the development of quantum computing fluid dynamics in sectors such as aerospace and intelligent manufacturing in China.

The China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics has expertise in wind tunnel design and non-aerospace aerodynamics, while Origin Quantum is China's first quantum computing company to have successfully delivered multiple quantum computers.

With the establishment of the joint workshop, China's aerospace industry is said to be poised to benefit from the integration of quantum computing – leading to enhanced efficiency and optimization in aerodynamics and its design processes.
