A new quantum computing project has been signed and settled in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, which is also known as the Hefei high-tech zone – located in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province – on June 13.
The "quantum computing with very low temperature dilution refrigerator" project is an independent research and development project by Anhui University's Shan Lei and Wang Shaoliang research teams.
It provides a low-temperature environment that is close to absolute zero, and is a key instrument for modern quantum scientific research. This makes it vital for quantum technology development.
The project will solve the import dependency problem that fields including the quantum computing may face. Once this project is completed, China can rely on locally produced very low-temperature dilution chillers.
In recent years, the Hefei high-tech zone has been investing into quantum science and technology by developing strategic plans and systems layouts.
The zone is the only region in China that has sold superconducting quantum computers. It has also given birth to the world's first quantum computer operating system, the first quantum chip production line, as well as the first quantum diamond atomic force microscope, which is a magnetic imaging instrument.
To date, the quantum information future industry science and technology park in the zone has gathered around 53 upstream and downstream industry chain enterprises.
