China Speech Valley, or the intelligent voice industry cluster – located in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province – was included in a list of national advanced manufacturing clusters on Nov 24, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The 45 national advanced manufacturing clusters cover key sectors for building a national manufacturing power and are considered important engines to lead regional economic development. In 2021, the output value of the leading industries reached 19 trillion yuan ($2.72 trillion).

The intelligent voice industry cluster in Hefei, led by AI technology company iFlyteck, reported primary operating revenue of 137.8 billion yuan in 2021.

What's more, the 1,423 enterprises based in the cluster have posted growth of over 30 percent in output value for five consecutive years.

Now, in a bid to become a world-class industrial landmark, China Speech Valley is set to boost the development of both its AI technology and information technology. It aims to generate total output value of 500 billion yuan ($78.74 billion) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

According to a notice issued by the provincial government last year, from 2021 to 2025, a total of 800 million yuan will be allocated annually to support the development of AI, intelligent speech and information technology in China Speech Valley.
