This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Advanced Technology of the University of Science and Technology of China.

The institute was established on Oct 24 in 2012 by the Anhui provincial government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Hefei municipal government and the University of Science and Technology of China.

It is located in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone, Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.

Over the past 10 years, the regional technological innovation research institute has been committed to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, industrial incubation and talent training.

It has upgraded its management system and taken many measures to encourage scientific researchers to innovate and start businesses. "Reform helped break down the institutional barriers that restrict the transformation of scientific and technological achievements," said Kang Yu, executive dean of the institute.

Over the past decade, by leveraging its flexible institutional mechanisms, the institute has accelerated the industrialization of cutting-edge technologies from the laboratory to the market. It has also cooperated with high-tech enterprises on talent training to help solve the shortage of engineering and technical talents.

The institute's independent research and development capabilities have also been continuously improved with increasing invention patents and intellectual properties. It has built 68 joint laboratories with well-known enterprises and established 19 applied engineering technology centers to carry out R&D on generic technologies and has developed a number of major technological achievements with international influence. In addition, the institute has already fostered 303 enterprises, 90 of which are national high-tech companies.
