Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Anhui province is planning to build "Future Science and Technology City" - an innovative area for industries of the future, according to Lu Ping, deputy director of the Party working committee of the zone.

The zone plans to launch the overall planning and construction of the future sci-tech city by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and is expected to see early results by 2025, according to Lu.

By 2025, the zone expects to introduce a number of world-class leading sci-tech enterprises, house over 5,000 national high-tech enterprises and more than 60 listed enterprises, and establish a construction area of incubators in the zone that exceeds 10 million square meters.

A number of landmark future science and technology projects and world-class scientific research institutes are also being planned to be built in the zone during the same period.

The zone is cultivating major information, manufacturing, services and health industrial clusters and is striving to build itself into a world-leading sci-tech park.
