Zhou Lei, a project director at QuantumCTek, a leading quantum company based in the capital city of Hefei in East China's Anhui province, was elected as an Anhui delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which is scheduled to begin in Beijing on Oct 16.

Zhou joined the CPC in 2009 and was named an Outstanding CPC Member of Anhui in 2021. He also won first prize at the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Awards and was honored as an Anhui Model Worker.

Zhou graduated with a PhD from the University of Science and Technology in Hefei in 2009 and spent two years doing postdoctoral work at the university before joining QuantumCTek in 2011. He has been involved in many of China's breakthroughs in quantum communications and quantum computing.

Dedicated to quantum research for more than 10 years, Zhou has been working on the front lines of scientific and technological innovation. He has played a leading role on his team as they have made breakthroughs in key and core technologies.

Quantum technology, a technology of the future, holds much promise and is of great importance. Zhou said he will continue to focus on turning quantum theory from research into actual products and services and strive for more breakthroughs in the field.

QuantumCTek started up in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in May 2009 as the first quantum information company in Anhui, and later became the country's first publicly traded company in the field of quantum communication.

Anhui has the most quantum enterprises in China and the number of quantum enterprises in Hefei ranks first among cities in China. Most of Hefei's quantum enterprises are located in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone. The zone is called "Quantum Center" for its thriving quantum industry and is striving to become a "World Quantum Center" by 2035, aiming to elevate itself from a domestic leader to a world leader in the industry.
