The 2022 WMC, offering the splendors of global manufacturing know-how and cutting-edge technologies to attendees, is co-sponsored by the Anhui provincial government, a group of central government agencies and a number of global industrial associations.
During the past four sessions of the annual WMC, a total of 2,455 projects have been signed in Anhui with a total investment of 2.38 trillion yuan ($341.9 billion), greatly boosting the province's manufacturing economy.
This year's convention, the fifth of its kind held in Anhui following the 2021 WMC, aims to promote the province's advanced manufacturing to the outside world while also introducing advanced manufacturing from outside to Anhui. The convention focuses on creating a new future for smart manufacturing by joining hands with small and medium-sized enterprises from around the world.
According to the Anhui Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the province has set up a modern industrial system after years of development, covering 40 major sectors, among which manufacturing spans 31 major industries.
Anhui Governor Wang Qingxian said the province will build more strategic emerging industries in a bid to better the high-quality development of its manufacturing.
Countries around the world are trying to command the future by seizing a new round of scientific and technological revolution as well as industrial transformation.
Anhui province has decided to target 10 emerging industries, such as new-generation IT, high-end equipment manufacturing, and new materials, to cultivate new momentum for high-quality development and create a gathering place for emerging industries.
Targeting these emerging industries, the province will actively invite outside investment and cultivate more talents, said Niu Nutao, director of the Anhui Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology.
Using the WMC platform, Anhui province has promoted project cooperation with centrally-administered State-owned enterprises, private enterprises and foreign enterprises, as well as enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan province, and overseas Chinese enterprises.
In addition to government officials, business leaders from Fortune Global 500 enterprises are expected to participate in the convention.
The province's 16 prefecture-level cities will also organize their own exhibitions each to showcase their respective manufacturing power and cooperation projects.
