Dong Yongdong, a 13th Anhui Provincial People's Congress deputy and president of Hefei-based IT company Guochuang Software, stressed the importance of the role of quantum technology in advancing digital economy during the sessions.

The future of big data and artificial intelligence will rely on powerful calculations so that quantum computers, which can perform tasks quicker than any traditional computer, will be a major focal point in the competitive environment of global technology, Dong said.

Wu Guocheng, a member of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, suggested forming an industrial chain consisting of digital technology as the core, and backed by leading AI and quantum information enterprises in China.
