Hefei embarks on aerospace information industry
Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, is going all in to develop the aerospace information industry, and aims to be a front-runner in the promising and competitive sector.
Since aerospace technology has been officially included in Anhui's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) last year, a slew of major aerospace projects have flowered in Hefei, especially in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone where the province's most of high-tech enterprises gather.
Hefei has become the first city to collaborate with the Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the "Digital Earth Industry" project with the ultimate goal of collaboratively forming an aerospace information industrial cluster.
It is estimated that by 2025 the project will gather 3,000 people for industrial development, and the number of registered users of its online products will exceed 200 million. As part of the project, GEOVIS Digital Earth Global Headquarters will be set up in the Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone to provide online services for global users.
On Dec 27, 2021, GalaxySpace, which is committed to mass producing its world-leading LEO broadband satellite constellations, signed an agreement with the zone to build the GalaxySpace Global Remote Sensing Satellite Industry Base.
In addition, the zone also established a cooperation agreement on Dec 21 with PIESAT, a leading satellite operation and application service provider in China, to establish the PIESAT Satellite Global Operations Center.
