CPPCC member speaks up at Hefei 'two sessions'

Hefei recently opened its "two sessions" conference. Government officials and business professionals from Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone are speaking up at the city's annual major political event.

During the first session of the 15th Hefei Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which kicked off Jan 9, Wang Wei, a CPPCC member of the Hefei Municipal Committee, spoke on behalf of the science and technology community.

Wang is the vice president of iFlytek and the general manager of iFlyrec, which are two tech companies based in the zone. He advised setting up a quantum industrial fund and making supportive policies to boost the development of quantum industry in Hefei.

Wang said that the quantum industry represents one of the key future industries. He expects Hefei will become a pioneer in developing future industries by utilizing the quantum industry as its core industry.

Hefei has built a solid foundation for developing the quantum industry as the city is sharpening its competitive edge in the application and industrial development of quantum technology, which consists of quantum communication, quantum computing and quantum precision measurement, Wang said.

Hefei is playing an important role in developing the quantum industry throughout the country. The Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone has gathered more than 30 quantum companies, accounting for one third of the country's total.
