Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, was recently ranked 14th in terms of comprehensive competitiveness in the 2020 Chinese Biomedicine Zones Competitiveness List.

The list ranked a total of 215 zones across the country, including 121 national high-tech zones and 81 national economic development zones.

The list evaluated the zones according to indicators like biomedicine industry output, R&D investment, as well as their competitiveness in environment, industry, technology, talent, and cooperation.

Through decades of development, Hefei National High-Tech Industry Development Zone has gathered about 400 biomedicine enterprises and formed an industrial chain spanning from active ingredients, innovative drug research and development, as well as high-end medical equipment and pharmaceutical manufacturing to pharmaceutical services and testing.

The zone is now home to a number of leading enterprises in the areas of biological medicine, chemical medicine, high-end medical equipment, precision medicine, and healthcare data. The overall scale of its biopharmaceutical industry has maintained steady growth.

The zone has been approved to build the National Healthcare Big Data Center, Provincial Biomedicine and High-end Medical Equipment Cluster Development Base, as well as the Municipal Healthcare Town.
