Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, is preparing to hold a series of online recruitment activities to encourage graduates at home and from abroad to develop careers there, local media outlets reported.

Many companies in the city looking to expand their workforces have signed up for the activities, and some leading companies in industries like integrated circuits, automobiles, and biomedicine will present themselves and introduce their jobs via live streaming events.

During interviews with local media, the city's employers expressed a desire for talent. Many of them said they highly value talent and believe they are crucial for companies' development.

Song Shewu, vice president of biotechnology company Anke Bio, said that talent was very important to Anke Bio's growth process from a startup founded by a scientific institute to a listed company because they contributed a lot to drug development.

Song regards talent as key to innovation and said that Anke Bio welcomes them with open arms.

According to Li Chenghua, HR manager of Anke Bio, the company has a strong demand for biopharmaceuticals, bioengineering and biotechnology talent and will recruit nearly 100 graduates for jobs related to technology, marketing, research and development, and international business.

Li also hailed the city's online recruitment activities as a move that would bring win-win results to employers and applicants. The activities help save on costs for both sides and allow companies to promote themselves to Chinese and overseas graduates and applicants to interact with HR online, Li said.

The number of employees at Hefei-based new energy company Sungrow has increased from 3,300 in 2019 to 4,000 in 2020 and is expected to exceed 6,000 by the end of this year. Forty percent of its current employees are R&D personnel, according to Zhang Wendong, recruitment head of Sungrow.

Zhang said that talent is the most important resource for a company and that Sungrow plans to recruit more graduates of power electronics, materials science, and chemistry majors. It has business in more than 150 countries and regions, so the company also needs students with international backgrounds.

Dong Hanyu from leading Chinese AI tech firm iFlytek said that the company is in need of product management and marketing personnel and plans to recruit 1,200 college graduates this year for well-paid jobs.
