Leading Chinese quantum computing company Origin Quantum plans to develop a 1024-qubit quantum processor by 2025, according to its five-year plan.
The company unveiled the plan for the development of quantum computing technology on Sept 11, which was also the fourth anniversary of its establishment.
According to the plan, the company will launch superconducting quantum chips with 64 qubits at the end of this year, with 144 qubits at the beginning of 2022, and with 1024 qubits in 2025.
Qubits, or quantum bits, are the basic unit of quantum information. A quantum processor with more qubits allows for faster computing and the ability to do multitudes of calculations at once.
