The Testing Laboratory for the Energy Efficiency and Safety of High-Voltage Components in New Energy Vehicles was officially established in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, East China's Anhui province, on Aug 27.

The lab is a result of cooperation between the CAS (Hefei) Institute of Technology Innovation, TÜV Rheinland China, the Anhui Province Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Research Institute, and the Shandong Institute for Product Quality Inspection.

The project fills a glaring void in the establishment of safety test standards and building test platforms for high-voltage components for new energy vehicles in China and takes the lead in the standardization and technology research in the field.

The NEV industry is one of the 10 emerging industries Anhui will promote during the 14th Five-Year (2021-25) Plan Period. The lab is expected to bolster the development of high-voltage components, a core part of the NEV industry, and help meet the growing needs of NEV enterprises for testing services.
