Companies in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province, won 45 awards on the 8th Anhui provincial patent award list, the most in the province.

Five companies in the zone won gold patent awards, according to the list released on Aug 17 by Anhui's administration for market regulation (IP administration).

Recognized as a high-tech hub in Anhui, the zone's intellectual properties excel in both quantity and quality, and have a leading position in scientific and technological innovation.

The local government has held a series of activities to help entrepreneurs learn about the application and protection of intellectual properties as well as launched reward policies. In the past three years, 91 new IP service institutions were set up in the zone.

This June, companies in the zone won two gold awards at the 22nd China Patent Awards for the first time.
