The Hefei Ion Medical Center (HIMC) was co-founded by the Hefei Municipal Government and the Hefei Institute of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASHIPS). It is an international cancer treatment center focusing on patient care, education, and research, offering the most advanced treatment technologies for proton and photon therapies.
HIMC cooperates and shares resources with the Anhui Provincial Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC) and has established a scientific research and education platform with the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).
The Hefei Ion Medical Center is home to the world’s leading Varian ProBeam Proton Therapy System, which includes three full gantry treatment rooms, one fixed beam treatment room and one research room. It is also equipped with two Varian VitalBeam linear accelerators and a suite of Siemens Healthineers diagnostic CT, MR, and auxiliary equipment.
The Hefei Ion Medical Center started providing photon inpatient therapy in November 2020, and it will receive the proton treatment system by the end of 2021.
